We regret that Jackson does not answer questions posted in the comments. This is due to his demanding schedule and the high volume of requests he receives. But most importantly, since he has not met your cat, it would be contrary to his approach for him to give specific personalized advice for your specific situation. That being said, general questions and issues are addressed throughout this blog, in his book CAT DADDY and of course, the show My Cat From Hell.

Some years ago I had a menagerie of 9 cats, 5 big dogs and 2 rabbits all living together in relative harmony. One among them was a young feral cat that I had some success at calming and socializing by means of gentle massage accompanied by soft words with music.
People consider me very good with animals — but Jackson Galaxy is amazing! His insights are clearly based on close observations leading to astute yet eminently practical advice. His show is a real learning experience which every cat owner showed watch.
Hi Jackson,
I’ve watched your show whenever I find it being aired and have learned a lot. One thing I haven’t seen you address is the claws out kneading of a cat guardian’s thigh when the cat is in the lap. Some cats knead with claws retracted, other cats really dig in. What drives a cat to have their claws out when doing this (I would think the mother cat and/or littermates have a way of showing disapproval), and how does one discourage this claws out kneading?
Thanks much.
Loved the new season. What was the cat urine product you suggested??
I can’t wait for it to be aired here in Holland!
And Chucky has lazer eyes!
Will (are?) episodes of My Cat From Hell be available as podcasts?
Greetings From The Land O’ Elvis!
We have 5 cats. We have a large house with plenty of high, medium and low “hidey holes”. All of them are rescues with 2 being feral upon our taking them in. Our youngest is about four, and our oldest is about 19. All are strictly indoor cats; we are in the suburbs- a place where they cut all the trees down then name the streets after them- so there are displaced coyotes. Outside cats do not live long here. All are spayed/neutered, and everyone gets along.
But…
There are male cats in the neighborhood who come up to our windows, especially when they are open, and challenge two of our males. They spray the screen and outside the window. This inspires one of our males to mark the inside and another to make his mark on top of the first.
Enough history-Here’s the question. What can be done to keep outside cats from marking our windows and doors? We believe the inside spraying would stop if we could keep them off. For example, in winter and summer, the cats don’t come to visit and there is no interior spraying. Any ideas?
We just saw your show for the first time last night. We agree with everything you did. Each of our cats are allowed to be cats. They are loving and let us hold and pet them-if its their idea. Just a thought. Did you know the state of Massachusetts does not recognize cats as chattel?
Thank You,
Eric Paris
Just wanted to tell you how much my husband and I love the show. We, thankfully, don’t have any real problem kitties, but we always learn a lot from you. From our happy feline furbabies and from us: thanks for all you do. I wish there were more people like you in the world who appreciate, love, and understand the magic and joy of cats.
Luv your show!! What do I do about my friend in denial about her cats. Nobody wants to come and visit because they are so unfriendly and aggressive. Several of us own cats, so we are cat lovers, but not with her cats. We ignore them, let them come to us, they will even roll at your feet to expose their belly and attack you as soon as you try to pet them. We call them evil kitties, what needs to be done? Oh my friend claims they are nice to her, but she has been bitten on her butt when she gets into the shower.
I have a all white girl cat that I got after my grandmother pased away. shes about 9 years old. I got her fixed. this cat hides under my cabnets under the sink and she will not come out. shes been liveing under there for a month now. if you try to touch her she will bite and scrach you. this cat acts like shes wild.I do have 3 other boy cats and they are well behaved. can you give me some adivce on what to do about this cat from hell.
Jackson – Amazing work!! Loved that you reinforced not swatting a cat. When you said that, I reached over and poked my husband. He’s been getting really frustrated with our 5 cats (as have I, but I’m just not as emotional as he is about it). Wish you would come to the Dallas-Fort Worth area or that you had a clone in our area. Our 5, after being together for 6 years, have developed behavioral problems. We have 4 boys and 1 girl, with the girl being the smallest at 8 lbs. Three of the boys are around 12-13 lbs. and one is huge at 18 lbs. But, the biggest is the most laid-back. The oldest boy (8 years old) is a 1/2 brother to the 3 younger boys (6 years old). Hayley, our girl, was adopted from a no-kill shelter. Hayley has never really cared for the 3 younger boys. But in the last couple of months, Larry (yes, another cat named Larry – and his brothers are Curly and MoeMoe) who is more partial to me, has been attacking our girl. To the point that she is scared to death (almost literally) of him. He had her down one day before we could get to him and she peed all over both of them. Now we keep the 3 boys separated from her. Springer, the oldest and the ruler of the household, goes between the two areas. Just what are parents to do? Really – let us know if you come to our area or have a local recommendation for us.
Love the show! I have three cats but one has to be separate from the others. Not really a problem as we have room to do this, but I would like to know how you get rid of cat urine since our neutered male likes to spray anything made of plastic as they probably smell odd to him. I’ve cleaned it up as best I can and sprayed the areas in question with the spray that is supposed to calm them down. So far so good, but my front door reeks as do the doors that go under our house. Just as you were telling Larry the Cat’s parents how to get rid of the urine, I got an unexpected call and missed that bit. So much of what you said on the show explained some things I’d accidentally stumbled onto throughout years of being honored by cats choosing to live with me. Great show!
My girl and I like Jackson’s hands-on approach and his uncanny ability to read into a cat’s body language as well as into the cat’s surroundings. We like how he modifies human behavior in order to benefit the quality of life for the cat. Jackson seems to have a superhuman quality when it comes to cat’s.
Love your show! What was the name of the cat urine cleaner you suggested? I am looking for a good cleaner to get rid of the smell left by a sick cat. Thanks!
Its called Fizzion. Here is the website :www.fizzionclean.com
I loved the first season of My Cat From Hell and I can’t wait to tune in and purchase the videos for the second season from itunes. My cat is almost three years old and had some behavior problems.. About two years ago, the vet recommended that I see a cat behaviorist and put him on anti-anxiety medication. Once I started implementing some your strategies such as regular play time, cat perches, and cat toys, my cat stopped being aggressive. He now brings his toy to me for play time and he has become affectionate. He will sit on my lap and come up to me to be petted. He is a whole new cat. Thank you for the great show!
You mentioned in season 2s premier that you prefer a particular kind of cleanser to remove urine markings. Can you please tell us what that is?
Thank you.
The Store portion of this website says he endorsed Fizzion which has CO2 in it. I was going crazy looking for something called CO2 charge which is how he said it!
FIZZION
Happy New Year, Jackson, and congratulations on the new season! I understand you don’t have the opportunity to answer many questions, but I hope you or your followers might have some advice.
My wife & I are the proud parents of 8 year-old Sabrina, a black indoor cat whom has never presented any challenges. My wife adopted her shortly after Sabrina was born, although they both come into my life (and house) three years ago and converted this dog-lover in spite of my cat allergies.
As we prepared for our first child, this unfortunately meant Sabrina was losing her favorite room although she has always free range throughout the rest of the house. We successfully moved her litter to our finished basement with no problems.
However, now that our child has been born, Sabrina has stopped eating. We had taken precautions by sending home items with the baby’s scent as soon as he was born and have tried introducing the baby to Sabrina and everything seemed to be okay, but now the hunger strike has us confused and concerned.
Normally a healthy eater of Science Diet dry foods, she also occassionally enjoys chicken, turkey or tuna; however, she is not interested in any of these or the Royal Canin options our vet suggested.
While we are aware of the high incidence of unavoidable kidney issues in cats, is there any advice you or your followers may have to help us save Sabrina?
Thanks so much and we wish you continued success!
Jackson you rock! I’ve learned so much from your show. My cat used to urinate on my couch, walls, bathroom. Also use to scratch furniture. I took your advice and got him a huge cat tree plus 1 and made things interesting for him. That solved that.
However I hope you get a chance to address needy cats. My cat demands so much attention. That is totally my fault b/c I’ve spoiled him too much. The problem now is that my husband and i have a baby now and well balancing Milo the cat and the baby is sometimes overwhelming. He howls, scratches doors. He’s obsessed with food too. He wakes us up at 5am every morning to be fed or else he makes so much noise he wakes up the baby. So either my husband or I feed him just to keep him quiet. Milo is not a bad cat just sometimes annoying. Help!!!
THANK YOU!!!! to everybody who replied with Fizzion. I have also been trying to find this co2 since I saw it on the show. Just decided to get on-line and start looking. I cant wait to get this product and try it.
