It’s 35 minutes of hanging out with Jackson Galaxy – The Cat Daddy.
Happy Valentine’s Day to your and your pets!
Click here to listen to the show which aired on Fri. Jan. 20, 2012.
We regret that Jackson does not answer questions posted in the comments. This is due to his demanding schedule and the high volume of requests he receives. But most importantly, since he has not met your cat, it would be contrary to his approach for him to give specific personalized advice for your specific situation. That being said, general questions and issues are addressed throughout this blog, in his book CAT DADDY and of course, the show My Cat From Hell.

My dog is dying, she has now Thrombocytopenia, Addissons and Autoimmune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA)(AIHA) and I think it is because she is eating cat poop. She is very weak and could bleed to death at any moment our vet said. The people next doors have three or four cats that live outdoors and use our property as a litter box. I went ouside today and it smells like a cat urine box. Please HELP ME MY DOG SHE IS DYING AND THE CATS ARE TAKING OVER OUR PROPERTY. Our sick dog is eating cat poop and seeing her fail ereryday is so sad.
Patricia,
First of all let me say, how sorry I am to hear about your dogs health. This is very sad and I am sure that she is a wonderful and beautiful animal. I am a veterinary assistant and also a licensed nurse. Most dogs eat cat poop because it is high in protein, which makes sense with the anemia and platelet problems your dog is having. I strongly suggest that you take your dog into the vet. I know how hard it is to have to put an animal down, but you may have to do this to end your dogs suffering. Again, I am so sorry and my prayers are being sent to you and your dogs way.
Hi Patricia,
I’m not a feline behaviorist or affiliated with Jackson, but I’m a pediatric nurse and cat lover – This makes me very qualified and credentialed with poop. 7 Dust is very effective to keep cats from peeing and pooping in your yard; it’s available at most department and home improvement stores. It also won’t harm your plants. I’d get a spreader, but really lay it on thick on flower beds and stuff like that. In the mean time, you might want to leash your pup for potty breaks.
Now if I can just find a nice cute tattooed guy like Jackson, all my problems should be solved. I should cultivate some emotional problems with my cat.
I have a kitten from hell and need help! I live in NY and she is the fourth cat that I have rescued but she does not get along with my other three. I don’t want to get rid of her. Is there someone I can talk to? I really like Jackson’s show and idea’s And I really need some help here.

My beautiful girl was gone after 17 years, I was devasted and rushed to get another just like her but it did not turned out the same. She hates my other cats, even us after 5 years. The only good thing about her is she comes up on the bed at night and is the most loving cat you can have. The minute she hears a noise, under the bed and she hates us during the day. I don’t know how old she is, she is declawed and have no idea how much she suffered and I will keep her till I die, but is there any hope that she will ever love us? My dream is to see her during the day but I do not believe will ever happen. Do you?
Have you had your vet check her for an oversensitivity to light and sound? Maybe the problem is neurological? Some cats just never get along with others. I have a 20 yr old female Siamese who has hated my male cat since he joined us 5 yrs ago. He’s quite mellow and tries his best to ignore her. Also, take a look at some of the natural products Jason has for sale on his website. One or a combination of a few of them might do the trick. Good luck! And I am so very sorry to hear about your loss after 17 years. That’s a tough one to handle.
I just want to say WOW! Read about the show and my boyfriend and I bought every single episode of My Cat From Hell on iTunes. He(really) and I both love this program. We have learned so much more about how we should be interacting with our cats and learned some valuable tools to make us better cat parents! Thank you, Jackson!

Hello, I would really like some help with two of my cats. I have 5 cats total, two of them are kittens, two are adults, and the last is a very old adult. Now that cat that I am worried about is one of the younger adults, his name is Buddy and he is a completely black cat. He is extremely anti-social and when approached in any way, he usually runs away, unless he feels trapped then, of course, he will attack, but he rarely uses his claws. Now the thing that I am worried about the most is that he absolutely hates our oldest cat, Zoe. She was owned by our neighbors until they abandoned her, then my grandmother took her in and currently has her trapped in the back room. I would like to introduce her fully to the other cats but Buddy always attacks her and he has only had a problem with her. When we introduced the kittens to him, he never had a problem with them. Zoe tolerates the kittens, ignores them for the most part, but my second oldest cat, Marbles, has never taken well to any cats, she is the “big momma” so to speak, but she isn’t nearly as violent as Buddy. My grandmother needs to be trained as well because she won’t let Zoe out of the room, even a baby gate is too much for her. We’ve tried to bring her into other rooms, but she just runs back into her back room. We’ve provided things for her in the backroom like a scratching post, she can look out the windows into the backroom, a litter box, and plenty of toys, but I want her to live in the house. No one plays with her because my grandfather is kind of lazy, my grandmother is at work all day, and I am at school all day plus, her claws are like needles. I want to someday soon use that room because that is actually an extra bedroom. Zoe also has a medical condition that calls for her to be required to have medicine twice a day and if she doesn’t, she may die. I had the notion that Buddy might not like her because she always smells like medicine. Buddy has always been the way he is, ever since we brought him home years ago. During the day, he loves and wants attention from my grandmother, but at night, I usually sit in the living room and am on my computer and he will come up to me and want attention from me. But with everyone else, he always runs and hides whenever anyone comes into the house. My grandmother loves Zoe unconditionally, that may even make Buddy jealous because he is no longer my grandmothers center of attention. When it comes to Zoe and Buddy, I believe that it is a matter of life and death for Zoe, but there is no possibility of getting rid of any of our animals. Is there any way to help Zoe and Buddy before Zoe leaves this world?
to answer your question, no, you probably won’t be able to teach your old cat new tricks. The most important thing you can do is respect the fact that she is old, probably does not want to play, and isn’t that much interested in interacting. She got a raw deal from her guardians when they dumped her, so she needs to be able to feel safe and chill. She is probably confused and may feel slightly threatened whenever she leaves the back room, which is why she tries to run back there when you drag her out. Spend time with her back there, and spend time with Buddy on his turf, but make it clear to him that he can’t bully Zoe. She is a mighty old cat, and chances are she has a medical condition of some kind which is making Buddy respond in that way. Cats tend to reject the sick ones in the fold for evolutionary purposes. Anyway, your letter was written a while back, just thought i’d put my ideas out there, hope it is all working out. I am currently guardian to four cats, all around the same age–the youngest is 1.5 years, two cats are three and one cat is four. They are awesome. I make it clear I am the pack leader, and they generally follow my direction. I respect their individuality, and how they work things out. There are compromises and occasional disagreements, but they generally dig each other. i am glad they live here. We have a huge, 500 sq. foot terrace and a cat door, so they can go in and out as they please, and yet they stay safe because it isn’t accessible to the street. They are awesome, all rescued from the city shelter, two of them from the streets of Brooklyn. I hope things work out with you and your cats.
I LOVE cats! I was raised on dogs and was never allowed to have a cat. When I got with my husband we got us a kitty that was about 5 months old. She was the best cat ever Then my husband and I decided to get two new kittens. She turned into a different cat. Didn’t really like anyone but my husband. She would deal with me but that was all she was doing. My husband got this great idea to get a laser pointer to play with the cats. BEST cat toy I have ever seen. She loved it and she started to deal with the other cats. If you have a cat that needs toys and you’ve tried everything you can think of Get a laser pointer.
Hi Patricia why don’t you try coffee grounds supposedly cats hate the smell and won’t pee on it it’s worth a try.
hello,
i’m a huge fan of the show and have employed several of jackson’s (extremely helpful) ideas with my own furry babies. unfortunately i’m exepriencing another issue, and am hoping some of jackson’s followers might have some helpful advice for me.
i’ve grown terribly attached to two of the neighborhood ‘stray’ cats. berty and opey (as i call them), have been around for almost two years. they live in my backyard for the most part, with an occasional stroll around the neighborhood. Both are extremely loving, affectionate, and sweet kitties. i spend a good bit of time outside visiting with them. i set up kitty houses, beds, blankets, toys, a scratching post, with plenty of food and fresh water (and heating pads in the winter). it probably seems like a bit much for some outside kitties, but they’re like part of my family and i love them dearly. if i didn’t already have 5 of my own inside, i would take them in without hesitation.
the problem is, the bad economy is forcing me to move (within a 30 mile radius). i’m so concerned about how to go about moving them, if that’s even the right thing to do? i feel like i’ve made them dependent on me, and i owe it to them to continue taking care of them. besides, i would miss them like crazy and be consumed with worry & guilt if i left them. but i do want to do what is best for them.
i’m hoping that someone can share their tips & ideas for relocating outdoor cats safely and with the least amount of trauma possible. any assistance/information would be greatly appreciated. please email me at moosey5150@cox.net. thank you in advance for any help you are able to provide.
