Must-know info on your book-signing visit with Jackson

Here’s detailed information on what to expect at the book store appearances.  We want you to have a cat-tastic time, and this info will definitely help you and everyone have a great time!

Please, no cat consultations at the book-signings.
Due to time constraints at the book events, Jackson will not be able to answer cat consultation questions during the Q&A portion or when autographing books. Consultations require focused lengths of time well beyond the scope of a book-signing. So out of consideration for other attendees as well as the bookstore’s staff, who don’t want to work overtime, please do not ask consultation-related questions. (Instead, see this post on his blog: Ways Jackson Can Help When He Can’t Be There to Help)

Please, no pre-purchased books.
In order to respect and support the independent book stores that are hosting these appearances for all of us, please do not bring pre-purchased books to be signed.

Free “Who’s Your Cat Daddy?” Tote Bags
Each store in the book tour will have a limited supply of “Who’s Your Cat Daddy” tote bags to give away at their event.  How do you get one?  Purchase two or more copies of CAT DADDY and purchase early!  Like we said, these are in limited supply and when they run out, they run out.

Book-signings benefit homeless cats!
For every sale at book-signing events, Tarcher/Penguin is donating $1.00 to the cause of saving homeless cats! That means that by attending, you can…

  1. purchase your book at the store hosting the event
  2. get that book signed to you (and your pet) by Jackson AND
  3. your purchase will help save homeless cats!

Charities that benefit:
Best Friends Animal Society
Stray Cat Alliance
Neighborhood Cats

(As you may know, for every copy of CAT DADDY pre-ordered before May 10, Tarcher/Penguin is donating $1.00 to the same cause as well. To make any preorders count, simply e-mail your receipt (or a photo/scan of your receipt) to: CatDaddyBook@gmail.com.)

      Hi Jackson,

I run a cat rescue for stray, abandon and feral cats and I LOVE YOU! You are wonderful to help these cats. Doing cat rescue I thought I knew just about everything (the eye blinking, getting down to their level, etc.)
but you have even taught me alot of new things and I can’t thank you enough for what you do!

I would love for you to come to Wilmington, DE or somewhere real close…maybe Philadelphia or King of Prussia!
      Gratefully,
      Yvette (Castaway Cats, Inc)

The south loves you too. Come to Little Rock, AR or Shreveport, LA, please :) My husband discovered your show about two months ago and now my whole family is hooked. We have purchased some of the toys featured on your show and are enjoying using some of the advice you give when we are dealing with our own cat. Our latest cat has taken a huge liking to my husband, which I think is AWESoME!!! He never was a cat person but since the cat loves him the most, he thinks it is pretty cool :) Keep up the good work and let me know if you make it to any of the southern states.

How about considering Orlando for future book signings? I would consider it an honor to meet you and get some cat mo-jo in person as I really really admire what your philosophy is concerning cats and your involvement in their welfare. Thanks to you, I think cats are FINALLY getting the positive recognition they deserve in main-stream America, and that enlightening people on all aspects of them is truly a benefit to both.
I look forward to reading your book and will continue to support you — and cats of course. I am a past, present and future cat lover.

It is REALLY close to one of our animal shelters, too, if you wanted to do some kind of promo event with Austin Pets Alive or another group with kitties that need good homes. Just going to throw that out there if you wanted to do a TX event because Austin is fairly central in the state.

If you do a Midwest tour, please come to Chicago. You might even want to contact the Chicago Public Library about doing an author talk. You know the cliche, librarians love cats! Me and my librarian boyfriend have 4 rescue cats.

Please come to Philadelphia, PA !!! Better yet (better for me, anyway!), please come to the suburbs in Willow Grove, PA or Jenkintown, PA. But if the book signing MUST be in the city of Philly, please consider this very cool bookstore (which has its own bookstore cat): http://www.walkacrookedmilebooks.com The owners host book-signings frequently and, as cat lovers, would be thrilled to have you as a guest signer/speaker.

I wish you would come to Canada. Nova Scotia. :) I have 5 cats myself. Two are strays that we took in. We love our 5, four footed, furry cats. I was going to say little, but a couple of our cats are big. LOL. I can’t wait to read the book. Saving my money so that I can get it. :)

Coming to NY anytime soon….I think you contribute so much with the work you do…Cats, in general, are a very miunderstood animal. Most people find them to be aloof and introverted…My 2 boys, Frankie and Johnney, are characters…very loving and even play fetch and “pet” me with their paws.. Please keep doing what you’re doing..I can’t wait to read the book…..

I was disappointed that no one from your office contacted me when I sent family pictures as well as photos of our cats to hopefully be a part of your upcoming season. I understand that all cat lover’s appreciate what you are doing, as I, but I felt that a thank you but no thanks email should have been in order. We live in the New York area and this was one of your stops this time around. I took a chance when providing personal information as requested and a confirmation email would have been nice. I look forward, anyway, to your upcoming season.

Would love it if you’d come to Kettering Ohio or somewhere near there. The Books & Co. is just seven minutes from where I live by car. Can’t wait for your book to come out. I watch your show whenever it’s on and so does my best friend that lives next door.

We hope you will come to visit us in one of our book stores (Barnes & Nobles or Joseph Beth Booksellers) OR better yet, one of our Petsmarts where our rescued cats are house (and cared for by loving volunteers like my husband and daughter) so people can see you, buy your book and possibly adopt a rescue kitten/cat!! Jackson –

I just finished your book, and I love it and you. Bless you for the work you do. I struggle along as best I can with my own cats, and I do pretty welll – I just introduced my new roommate’s two diminutive female cats to my two monster male cats, and there’s been no serious fussing or bloodshed. And nobody cares to bother the rabbit who came with the two new cats.

I perform with a women’s Balkan vocal ensemble based in San Pedro; all of us are cat owners. We’re called “Zhena”, and we also have a Facebook page (the “Musician/Band” page of the two) on which we used our pets’ pictures to promote our work. We got tremendous attention!

Keep on strokin’. I’m glad you’re a success; you deserve it~

BTW, I just finished reading “Cat Daddy”. I finished it in one sitting. I’ve been through very similar life experieices, like you have. I can so relate. I cried so hard at the end of the book. It just brought back many memories of my very own “Benny’s” and the love I have all cats in general.

I’m glad to see things are looking up for you Jackson.

We are trying to get the city council to pass TNR and feral cat laws so all these cats will not be brought to the shelter and be EU’d. You would give cats some much needed good publicity, we love our cats in the Metroplex and want them to be able to live as ferals and not killed. We need you!!

We regret that Jackson does not answer questions posted in the comments. This is due to his demanding schedule and the high volume of requests he receives. But most importantly, since he has not met your cat, it would be contrary to his approach for him to give specific personalized advice for your specific situation. That being said, general questions and issues are addressed throughout this blog, in his book Cat Daddy and of course, the show My Cat From Hell.
