Catification: Wraparound Catio

Sarah from Satellite Beach, Florida added on to her house this spacious catio that wraps around one corner of the garage. The structure is built on a concrete slab with two-by-four supports that are anchored into the concrete. Chicken wire and plastic roofing make the catio escape-proof. The cats have plenty of shelves at different heights for climbing and perching. There is a cat door leading from the house to the garage and another leading out to the catio. Sarah says that all the cats love to sunbathe on their catio, getting some fresh air, while staying safe and sound.

We regret that Jackson does not answer questions posted in the comments. This is due to his demanding schedule and the high volume of requests he receives. But most importantly, since he has not met your cat, it would be contrary to his approach for him to give specific personalized advice for your specific situation. That being said, general questions and issues are addressed throughout this blog, in his book CAT DADDY and of course, the show My Cat From Hell.

    Is that cat shaved?

Yes, Ozzie was a rescue who had been in the shelter for over 3 months, when he adopted us. He is a 10 yr old Maine Coon who was so horribly matted that we had no choice then to get him shaved =( Wouldn’t have been our choice, but he is so happy now. The mats were stopping him have full range of motion. We won’t be shaved again, we will just be brushing a lot
