Just as we did during the last season of “My Cat From Hell,” we’ll be presenting an on-going series called the Spirit Essences Report. This series will give you an inside look at how Jackson puts to use the holistic remedies he created with Holistic Veterinarian Dr. Jean Hofve over a decade ago. This is how Jackson helps the cats (and their guardians!) you see on the show…off camera.
Spirit Essences are not essential oils. They are holistic remedies, and the only veterinarian-formulated line of its kind in the world. Jackson has developed and refined the remedies based on his over 15 years of experience and the needs of his clients. They have been extremely successful, even in very difficult situations. For more info, check out www.SpiritEssences.com
And now, presenting this season’s first installment of The Spirit Essences Report.
Mufasa
Issue: this young male bengal demonstrated two main issues shown in this episode, and one that you didn’t see, but you’ll soon read about. 1) he stalked and attacked his guardian Suzanne like clockwork every night. 2) he urinated regularly on the hardwood floors in Justin and Suzanne’s home. For issue number 3, keep reading…
Jackson says: ”For Mufasa, we used Safe Space for Cats and we used Happy Tummy. Mufasa was having major troubles in terms of territorial marking. As seen on the show, Mufasa was having issues with the neighborhood cats outside his window. So to help him feel more grounded and also to help him feel braver when he went outside to meet the cats, we used Safe Space for Cats. Mufasa was also born seemingly, with serious digestive issues. When I met him, he had never had a solid poop in his entire life. And he was two years old. Along with changing his diet to a raw diet, we used Happy Tummy, and were thrilled that by the time I left him, he was actually having solid poops for the first time in his life.”

- Safe Space for Cats – for the issues you saw on T.V.
- Happy Tummy – for the issue they didn’t show
Olive & Pepper
Issue: Olive earned the nickname “General Olive” because she was constantly ‘on patrol’ and unleashing her feline-fury on the other cat in the house, Pepper. The situation was made doubly terrifying for Pepper because the layout of Mike and Emilie’s apartment was full of dead-ends where Pepper had no escape route. The problem was solved with a combination of behavioral, environmental (see the ‘Catification‘ section), and holistic medicine approaches.
Jackson says: ”Olive and Pepper demonstrated a classic bully-victim dynamic. And Ultimate Peacemaker was used to help smooth things out and redefine the relationship while we worked a step-by-step course of behavioral action.”
Spirit Essences Jackson put to use
- Ultimate Peacemaker Set, which consists of…
- Peacemaker
- Bully Remedy
- Self-Esteem
We regret that Jackson does not answer questions posted in the comments. This is due to his demanding schedule and the high volume of requests he receives. But most importantly, since he has not met your cat, it would be contrary to his approach for him to give specific personalized advice for your specific situation. That being said, general questions and issues are addressed throughout this blog, in his book CAT DADDY and of course, the show My Cat From Hell.

Just a quick note to say – thank you for being here for the cats & for all you do. I do hope you are well and happy.
Kindest Regards,
Karen
I do not know where else to go, I can’t seem to find an e-mail to send to Jackson regarding a cat of mine that spray everywhere, I can no longer take it and was looking for help? Can someone give me some direction as to who I can contact?
Thx,
what can you tell me about the personality of Abyssinian. Also from your show you advocate spay/nueter do you advise it also on this type of cat to be mainly a house cat.
and do you have any tips of convincing my wife to allow me to have a cat. we had one once together but the kids were very young very un ruley so the cat was stressed i think alot so there were some problems.
I’m not Jackson, but I can tell you definitely, DEFINITELY spay/neuter!
First off, a male who isn’t neutered is more likely to spray, will often be more aggressive, and will be trying to get out so that he can go explore and defend his territory (and find a mate.)
An unspayed female will go into heat every few weeks until she gets pregnant, and that means constant meowing and demands for attention, bleeding (the cat equivalent of PMS) and probably a horde of male cats hanging around the outside of your house just praying that she’ll be let out while she’s in season… and if she does make it out, or they make it in, there will be kittens as a result.
If you want more information about the importance of spay/neuter, check out http://www.spayusa.org/ – they have a lot of great information!
Hi Jackson a few questions about my cat he is not a pissy cat at all but i have a couple of questions for you if i may . i am called the animal wisperer around my friends and family , i have so many amazing stories to tell but not enough time to tell, but my cat and i are so close i know what every movement means what he wants when he asks yes i did say what he asks because he talks to me in his own way and i just know what it is that he needs . my husband loves him in his own way but doesn’t get it really so if he wants something he comes to me cuz he knows i will know what he wants. and i am an impath and i am able to feel what others cant. we do everything almost together he follows me where ever i go ,if i let him outside in the back yard after about an hour or so he comes in talking very loud that he wants me outside with him than hes fine, if i dont feel like staying out long he will come in with me even though his favorite place is outside. so i believe i have made him so much of a mommas boy and that i have done this to every animal i have ever had, i love them so completely they are family babies, but i believe in doing so i have made them so dependant on me and dont know if i could change that but when ever i went shopping or go to work i tell where i am going and say good bye i love you and mommy will be home soon. and i have been watching him he goes right to his food dish when i tell him this and i now think he has seperation angsiouty.or has had it for a while he never use to . this i need help on please and every night he comes in to ask VERY LOUDLY i must say to ask us to put animal planet on he watches to much tv. than after an hour or so he comes in loudly again and wants someone up with him, he will do this constantly every half hour until one of us gets up and goes to the couch. I know you will tell us to shut the door but he likes and we like it when he sleeps with us he just gets up to damn early even though we have played all day his favorite is hide and seek all the time if i say peekaboo its on ,so i dont know what to do he should be freeken exhausted but he is not we sur are but dont know what else to do to make him tired hes supposed to sleep 18 hours a day bologna that myth is for other normal cats not my willie. so if you could help id love you more than i do now you truely are a remarkable man, any man that loves animals the way i do is really wonderful i see the emotions on your face and watch how you react to the animals and it makes me so happy you feel the same way that i do. oh and god so sorry this is becoming a novel but my husbands feet are so sensitive that you cannot touch them mine no biggie but my cat knows this some how because he only attacks my husbands feet i can do exactly what it is my husband does to him with his feet and nothing not even a nibble but you put his feet enywhere near him he’ll get em it’s actually quite funny. any hoo if you qould help us we would so very much appreciate it and much apologies for the miss spells. there hidious. see you thanks so much Sincerely Paige Castle
Peacemaker does wonders.
The cat hierachy in my home changed when one of my female cat became a little ill. One of my males started bullying her.
After a few weeks of this I bought Peacemaker and prayed that it would work since I had tried just about everything.
Within a fews days the home was calm again. Now I just put it on my guy once or twice a week, keep him busy with Da Bird, and we have peace again.
Thank you very much
How do you use these essences? I have a 1-year old tortie (Sandy) who has to be separated from my 18 year old docile female (Cookie) because of her aggression. Sandy will attack Cookie and Cookie would never defend herself. We live in a smallish apartment so there isn’t much room for Cookie to hide. Right now we are doing ‘time share’. Every night we put Cookie in the bathroom with her favorite snacks and let Sandy have playtime. But this situation is extremely frustrating. I was wondering if this “Peacemaker’ set would help.
I am a huge cat lover and think what you do is fantastic. I thank you and so do all cats!!!!
Hi Jackson!
We are moving from Southern California to Buffalo NY in 2 weeks. I am worried from going from one warm climate to a not so warm climate will affect my cats. I am also wondering if you have advice as how to help them adjust to the new house without trying to “go back home”. I have one Maine Coon who is normally outdoors, but in at night, and I have a grey tabbi who is a bit older and doesn’t venture out anymore. Any advice will help. They spoiled rotten and have every cat luxury imaginable. Please help! I am afraid they will run away! BTW, thank you for your compassion and skills!
I’ve adopted a feral cat. Female about 4-5 years old and was taken from the colony at 6 months of age or so. Taken into a rescue, fostered and adopted once and then returned. She is a true scaredy cat. Spends most of her days under my bed and when I’m in the bed she is in the living room. We work with treats, calm conversations and not much movement when she’s in the room. How can I get her to relax? I can’t trim her nails let alone get her into a carrier to the vet. I’ve looked at your spirit essences but not sure which would work best for her.
Thanks for any suggestions that would help this sweet little girl.
Gail
Hey brother, Hope all is well..!
Just wanted to let ya know, I am a converted dog guy. Grew up with dogs as a kid, then in the military with me.
Then after. While going through an insane divorce (literally), I became re-acquainted with one of my girl-friends from my visits back home on leave, and high school. She had this cat that wouldn’t leave me alone. I mean E V E R man, but it hated all her prior boyfriends I’ve been told. I would walk through the door and just say, “hey babe”, and Cecilia would come runnin’ and literally wrap her self around my feet man. It didn’t take long of course for my tune to change from, “I just don’t like cats, I’m a dog guy” to… “AWE, who’s a sweet witlle kitty” when Melissa would head out to work.
Cecilia past away this year from a growth that completely encircled her heart, it got to the point that we were giving her daily I.V. treatments and carrying her to her litter if we could make it. We all woke up one day to find Cecilia curled up in bed next to our 9 year old daughter Dakota Rain, but she could’nt make it to the litter box, and passed in her sleep.
We have her ashes, and her spirit. She is still in our daily thoughts.
Well, about a week went by and we needed to find something to fill the void left by Cecilia’s passing. Melissa and I went down to PetSmart, and we only went to find one kitten for Melissa and Dakota Rain.
We immediately found a sweet, long hair, (mane-coon mix..?) that chose Melissa, His name is Eli, I refer to him as cool breeze, he is real laid back, just cool as a cucumber. He digs playing in the tub after showers and baths, and chasing bird shadows on the living room curtains by the sliding glass door, he totally digs to sit on the couch and watch the world. While we were letting Eli pick Melissa, we decided to attempt to find a second cat as well, that could accept Dakota Rain’s playful nature. As Karma would have it, the match wasn’t even our decision. we had all the cats out in the room with us, and the one that got along with Eli would be our second adoption for the day. Within minutes a small female, short hair, she looked like a baby tiger, crouched up behind Eli and started to play with his tail. He was very protective of the playful little thing and was actually herding the others away from her. so he could roll on the floor on his back as she would pounce all over him… Her name is Pandora, and she is a vixen. She digs runnin’ through the place at M A X speed and launching into the air to land on the top of their tree (6 feet up) right on the opposite side of the sliding glass door where Eli sits on the Black couch. When we brought the two of them to their new home, they each were made separate spots they could crash away from reality. Eli in our room under a huge bed, and Pandora got a spot under Dakota Rain’s bed. They now happily co-exist, both sharing “window time” together, They climb up in the bedroom windows when they’re open and just groom each other, they play together, eat together and both attack me at around three a.m. to get their start on the day, and treats after their play time. We all three love your show, Dakota Rain is saving the episodes on the D.V.R. on watches them always, Melissa watches during her psychology study breaks, and I watch when the girls are gone to school to get play tips while so felines and I can party like rock stars (I’m retired military). Thanks brother, your show helped create an environment of sanctity, peace, and harmony by allowing us to help two cats that we never knew we needed, to help us repair our lives as well. Dakota Rain is a firm believer in you, brother. Keep up the great work..!!!
Dave.
