Spirit Essences Report: Xena • Gigi & Suki

This is part of the on-going blog series called the Spirit Essences Report.  This series gives you an inside look at how Jackson uses the holistic remedies he formulated with Holistic Veterinarian Dr. Jean Hofve over a decade ago.  This is how Jackson helps the cats (and their guardians!) you see on the show…off camera.

Spirit Essences are not essential oils.  They are holistic remedies, and the only veterinarian-formulated line of its kind in the world. Jackson has developed and refined the remedies based on his over 15 years of experience and the needs of his clients.  They have been extremely successful, even in very difficult situations.  For more info, check out www.SpiritEssences.com

Xena

Jackson with Chris

Issue: Xena was a year-old cat who would suddenly spring into violent yowling, screaming, hissing, and tearing all through the house.  Jen and her son Chris, and dad Mike were understandably very frustrated and upset about it.  Especially Chris, who was literally terrified to have Xena in his room because of her unpredictable violent streak.  With Chris’ help, Jackson solved the mystery of Xena’s behavior, a one-time terrifying experience for her in their backyard was what had put her into this difficult condition.  And with that knowledge, he put a course of treatment into place which included holistic remedies.  Here’s more about just that, from Jackson…

Jackson says:  ”For Xena…Warrior Princess, because of what was quickly identified by me as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because of what she suffered in the backyard, Trauma Free was the obvious choice.  With Trauma Free, we’re trying to sort of undo the damage and get them to release that endless violent feedback loop that they’re experiencing.  We also want to make sure we have Stress Stopper on hand at all times.  Because that is key to get these guys through it.  We don’t want to stop the process of unwrapping the onion, because it’s hard to watch them reactivate and relive the trauma.  So the Stress Stopper‘s gotta be on hand to keep them grounded through their process.  The last remedy that I made sure was on hand was Intensive Care.  Because as we found out, after we identified the PTSD: she was also blind.  Not only was she 90% blind but she also had lesions on her eyes that were extremely painful.  She was really unhappy.  And Intensive Care was to help as she went through the process of healing her physical body.  We were going to also going to support the vibrational body for this new process.”

Gigi & Suki

Issue: Gigi was bullying and over-dominating the new kitten in the household, Suki.  Anytime Gigi saw Suki, the poor kitten was in for a beatdown of hitting, scratching, hissing and chasing.  Jackson taught the cat guardians (Nick & Julie) how to re-introduce the two cats, and at the same time show Gigi that her place as queen of the house was secure.  Holistic remedies were used to reinforce that message for Gigi, as well as help Suki be less of a victim.  Here’s Jackson…

Jackson says:  ”For Gigi and Suki, it was the old standby: Ultimate Peacemaker.  We gave them Ultimate Peacemaker because Gigi was bullying Suki, and Suki was taking it.  Suki had taken to hiding behind toilets and under the bed.  So it was a classic case of bringing up the self-esteem of one animal while teaching the other one, “You know you really don’t have to patrol the border as much as you thought you did.  You don’t have to keep the newcomer in place; she’s in place all by herself.”  For both of them, it was a matter of “Step back, see what you actually have going on here as opposed to what you think you have going on here, and what you actually have is peace, so let peace reign.”

We regret that Jackson does not answer questions posted in the comments. This is due to his demanding schedule and the high volume of requests he receives. But most importantly, since he has not met your cat, it would be contrary to his approach for him to give specific personalized advice for your specific situation. That being said, general questions and issues are addressed throughout this blog, in his book CAT DADDY and of course, the show My Cat From Hell.

Hey Jackson – Just wanted to let you know how touched I was with last week’s episode and your case with Xena… not only did you really help out a cat that truly needed someone to understand what was bothering her, but your interaction with Chris was AMAZING and I totally think that he is going to be a full-fledged Cat Daddy Jr. soon. The little guitar case was such a nice gesture and you brought so much happiness and hope back to Chris and Xena that it was very moving and uplifting. You da man!

    Hi,
I live in the country and like to hang bird feeders. We have hundreds of birds around us. Many of them seed eaters. We also have one of four cats that is like greased lightening getting by us to the outside world. Of course we knew it would happen sooner or later…..Yes, she caught a bird. My dilema is feed the birds and let them take their chances or take the feeders down? Please give me some input on this problem.
    thanks,
    d.

      Deanna,
Is there anything that the kitty loves that would distract her while you go out the door? A treat or a toy?
We live in the country too and I have a bird feeder, but our inside cats are older and not so interested in hunting. There are some ferals outside, and I’m sure that they catch a bird now and then. I don’t want any harm to come to the birds but really, the cats miss a far more often than they catch one. I leave the feeder up, I think the birds have the advantage. It is very, very rare that we find evidence of a lost soul.
      Best of luck to you!
