Spirit Essences Report: Finn & Molly

This is part of the on-going blog series called the Spirit Essences Report.  This series gives you an inside look at how Jackson uses the holistic remedies he formulated with Holistic Veterinarian Dr. Jean Hofve over a decade ago.  This is how Jackson helps the cats (and their guardians!) you see on the show…off camera.

Spirit Essences are not essential oils.  They are holistic remedies, and the only veterinarian-formulated line of its kind in the world. Jackson has developed and refined the remedies based on his over 15 years of experience and the needs of his clients.  They have been extremely successful, even in very difficult situations.  For more info, check out www.SpiritEssences.com

Finn the domestic shorthair

Issue: Finn meowed all night AND he also peed all over the house – on the carpet, on laundry, on blankets and comforters!

Jackson says:  First of all, let’s talk about what you didn’t see with the Finn episode. So in the room with the bay window where Finn had peed up a storm, we had used Fizzion to get rid of the smell.  Now of course it got better. But the problem was that even though we got Finn to stop peeing in that corner, when I went back for the second visit and there had been no peeing for a week, maybe 10 days…the carpet was still damp because it was coming up from the sub-flooring. And it was the most disgusting smell.  All I had to do was touch it.  It was on my knees, it was everywhere, and I still could not get that girl to cut up that piece of carpet.  All I was asking to do was cut up the square of carpet and she just wouldn’t do it.  So there comes a point where you have to step out of the process and say, “This is your house, you do what you want to do.”

But you’re inviting him to go back there and you don’t get to be mad at him when he does.

For Finn, we used Safe Space for Cats to help him realize that, well, his space was safe and that he didn’t need to go into what I call the Alamo Response. The Alamo Response is saying “the barbarians are at the gate and I have to protect the castle, and by protecting the castle, we lay down the moat…”  We don’t have to do that and that’s what Safe Space for Cats is all about.

Molly the “problem child”

Issue:  Molly chewed on electrical cords, she scratched people and furniture, and she pooped outside of the litter box!

Jackson says:  For Molly, to help her along her path of weight loss and more comfort and ease within her body, we used Creak Away.  It was to, in an energetic sense, help complement the glucosamine chondroitin supplements that she was getting along with the fish oil.  And of course, y’know, a change in exercise and diet.  These things are really going to be the complete picture in terms of changing Molly’s overall health, and that’s from a physical and vibrational standpoint.  We also used Bully Remedy to keep her from over-guarding territories where Mimi was around.  Mimi really didn’t need anything; she was doing just fine.

We regret that Jackson does not answer questions posted in the comments. This is due to his demanding schedule and the high volume of requests he receives. But most importantly, since he has not met your cat, it would be contrary to his approach for him to give specific personalized advice for your specific situation. That being said, general questions and issues are addressed throughout this blog, in his book CAT DADDY and of course, the show My Cat From Hell.

Hi jackson. Im from venezuela and i want to ask you some questions about a cat that mi fiance and me keep out the streets. He donsnt stop bite us and he dont listen to us in any case. We dont now what to do because he is a rebel and we are losing our mind. We search on the web information about training cats and we try some of that instruction like the water spray and even the little knock on the nouse but he only want to keep bite everyone in everywere. Please if you now something we can do let us know. We want to thank you for your time.

I’d say don’t hit him on the nose and don’t spray him with water. Listen to what Jackson says…play with him a lot. Then play with him more. Maybe your are overstimulating so watch Jackson’s video on “why your cat bites when I pet him”.
Please don’t hit or spray your kitty friend!

Ok, now I’m really frustrated. I have 3 cats. I love them they are great. The only problem is we have gone through 18 mice and earphones because the cats have chewed the cords. It has in Justin’s issue into that the cat he was talking about chewed cords. However, it does not address it. There was an episode where
another cat was chewing wires. Still it stopped with no words to explain it.

Please help! I am desperately at my wits’ end after dealing with this for over 9 years! It has gone to the point of considering giving him up if he’s lucky enough to have a true cat person take him on.

My half Siamese indoor Angel was such a good and perfect kitten, always using the litterboxes he shared with his sister, Mona. He had a rough start in life, getting no to improper nutrition in his first week or so due to an interruption in mom’s labor. The vet was shocked that the kittens were still alive.

After about his 1st-2nd year, he had a blockage of crystals and/or mucous, which resulted in a urethrostomy. Once he recovered, he started to pee all over the house. I thought when I moved to a safer place 1 1/2yrs ago, he might improve if he could venture outside sometimes. He did not. Now I’ve moved again to a friend’s house and I just can’t have this anymore. I understand that some of his muscles were removed and that part of this could be physical, but it’s mostly behavioral. I’ve seen him back up and willfully do it. Since I’ve moved, I’ve tried to keep him confined to a smaller area but he wants to explore and now I’m tortured by his constant yowling in protest, and he is still peeing on everything. I’ve tried the ‘calm down’ collar & Feliway, herbs, diet, supplements – they help a little with his nasty attitude sometimes but not the peeing. He generally gets along with my other cat and also my Boston (shockingly) that I got last year, but flips moods on them easily and pretty much hates everyone but me, unless they are a true cat person. If I could just understand WHY he’s doing this, it could help to resolve his issues. PLEASE HELP!! I am a forever pet type of person but I think I’ve reached my limit, and I can’t keep paying for damage caused by him and not have guests because of a pissy-smelling house. I can’t imagine what could make him feel threatened or insecure!
