BARC provides safe havens for homeless animals and finds them permanent loving homes. Serving the great communities of and around Brooklyn, New York.
Here are a few words from BARC:
BARC’s mission is to provide a safe haven for abandoned animals and to find permanent loving homes for them. While in our care, we provide them with quality food, shelter, medical attention, and the love they deserve.
We are a 501c3 not-for-profit, no-kill, privately run animal shelter located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Since we opened our doors in 1987, we have been able to provide care to animals through dedicated volunteers, our pet supply business, and private donations.
If you live in the Brooklyn area, visit us at our facility located at 253 Wythe Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11249 or check out available animals we have for adoption at our website, and on our Facebook page. If you see an animal you want, please give us a call at 718-486-7489. We will need an copy of your lease and 2 references, with 2 major IDs and fill up an adoption form. Here's BARC's page online about how adoption works.
SocialPakt was founded in September 2011 by husband and wife team, Greg Mullens & Bailey Schroeder. Inspired by their adopted dog Charlie, and all the happiness he brought to their life, Greg & Bailey started SocialPakt as a way to help raise money and awareness for animal rescues all across the United States and Canada.
Each week SocialPakt launches new, limited edition apparel products in support of various rescues specializing in the protection and adoption of dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and even ferrets. For each product that they sell, $6 get donated directly to one of their partner animal rescues.
As a shelter volunteer, Joan Laisney saw scratch marks on cage walls and shelving by shelter cats' attempts to perform natural behaviors: stretching their muscles, scratching to clean their nails and scent mark with paws.
After months of testing, Joan designed a scratcher for caged cats that is sturdy, easy to install and affordable in a tight economy.
Every Shelter/Rescue of the Month will receive a case of these awesome scratchers! Thank you Stretch & Scratch!
