A call came in to pick up an unwanted cat. The kitten that greeted volunteers for Halfway Home Rescue, our #MonthlyMojo shelter for January, was sweet and affectionate - and dragging a front leg uselessly behind her. The boys living in the college dorm had been hiding her there, and when asked about the injury, replied that a speaker might have fallen on her. She'd been dealing with the painful fracture for weeks. The vet was sure the leg would have to be amputated, but tried pinning the bones together in a final effort to save it. It worked! Lucy recovered quickly, never allowing her injury to bother her or effect her personality. She showed that she loves everybody - cats, dogs, and kids - while awaiting at a PetSmart adoption center for her forever home.
A volunteer at the adoption center started to bond with the sweet-natured tabby. Lucy's story broke her heart, and with such an endearing personality, it was impossible to avoid falling in love. The volunteer adopted Lucy, and she went home to snuggle happily ever after with the perfect forever family.
