The item- This was my first Armarkat product and I'm very impressed with the quality of wood used compared to other products on the market. It feels very sturdy and is actually real wood instead of particle board. I'm no expert so it might still be some sort of plywood, but it still feels much sturdier than other similar items. I, like many others on other sites, don't love the gaps between the boards, so I plan to put something in between to prevent any stuck or squished paws. I also wish the boards were sanded down a bit better as some spots looked like they hadn't been sanded down as best they could.

My cat is a medium but very fluffy senior cat and it's definitely spacious enough for her, which is often a concern when buying cat furniture. The reason I give this 4 stars is purely because of the packaging and because directions could have been better. None of the pieces were labeled which would have been nice, especially since that can effect construction. The screws came in 2 bags--a soft drawstring bag and a very thin plastic bag inside the drawstring one. The screws were haphazardly placed in the plastic bag and easily could cut or stab someone if you're not careful! They also were not labeled and were all just placed in the same bag, which imo is a huge oversight that could lead to incorrect assembly by anyone not as vigilant as I am. I had to count the screws to determine which ones went where, which wasn't hard since luckily all the screws were there (but did not come with extras), but still something that shouldn't even be an issue. The directions also were very lacking in both pictures and in words which did not instill confidence in me. The screw holes were also very tight so I gave myself a blister using the screwdriver (not included), so I would definitely recommend using a power drill and just be careful when assembling it instead if you have one. We had to make everything line up since it seems the holes may not have exactly lined up, but once everything was screwed in it helped all the pieces come together.

Once put together, the hexagons feel very sturdy and again, my cat absolutely loves it, so I would still recommend this product despite the things I mentioned, especially considering the market is flooded with cheap products made for kittens. To me, despite its shortcomings, the product seems to do its job well, which is what matters to me in the end. My only other comment is that I wish the product had listed a weight capacity, but this is the fault of Armarkat and not the Jackson Galaxy site as Armarkat doesn't even list it on their own site.

The service- The Jackson Galaxy customer service was great, 5/5 stars there. I originally tried ordering while every other website was out of stock, except this one, but turns out their stock was out here too. They contacted me after a day or two explaining the situation and offered to cancel my order for me, or that I could wait until it came back in stock. I figured it must be pretty popular if every other site was out of stock, so I kept the item on-order considering it was cheaper here too. Their customer service rep Chandler emailed me once it was in stock to cancel my order so I could re-place it and get their better discount, which was very kind of them. Others might have been annoyed to have to re-place an order but I've worked customer service so I know that it's not always possible to apply a discount after ordering, so it was no big deal and I was just happy to get a better sale price. Chandler was extremely kind and helpful the whole way through.

Overall, if you're a detail-oriented cat owner like me who can overlook some assembly troubles and can DIY any potential design issues if they bother you, definitely pick these up for your cat if you're looking for wall furniture for your all-ages/adult kitties. It's made of a sturdy material, very spacious, seems to be made with adult cats in mind, easy for my cat to navigate, and is well worth the price compared to other similar items on the market. I would definitely buy more of these if I had the space!
